Watering/Disease Control Technician

Miami, OK

$11 per hour

Responsible for supplying water to the mycelium for growth and development, protecting the compost from drying, providing support for the developing mushrooms, and resisting structural breakdown following repeated watering.

This position is responsible for all of the following:

  • Supplies water to the mushroom beds without leaching into the underlying compost to provide the greatest yield potential
  • Applied water intermittently to raise the moisture level to field capacity before the mushroom pins form
  • Know when, how, and how much water to apply
  • Apply pesticides as instructed by supervisor/grower
  • Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) on the safe handling and proper use of water tree equipment along with the proper removal and control of mushroom crop related diseases
  • Following SOP’s on the safe handling of hazardous chemicals and strictly adhering to the procedures
  • Performing calibrations as needed
  • Monitoring the performance of watering equipment
  • Good communication with supervisors and other employees
  • Work independently and productively with limited supervision and collaboratively as part of a team

Over the Road Truck Driver (OTR)

Miami, OK

Starting wages vary based on experience

Responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Secure cargo to prevent damages during transportation, maintain detailed records of the number of hours traveled, mileage covered, and rest periods, as well as assist in the loading and unloading of cargo.

This position is responsible for all of the following:

  • Compliant with all DOT rules and regulations ensuring that equipment meets DOT standards
  • Operating a tractor trailer with standard and automatic transmissions (including 10 speed)
  • Good communication with customers, sales team and supervisors
  • Push/pull 1200 pound pallets with manual jack or electric jack
  • Safely transporting freight between various locations over long distances
  • Performing truck inspections before and after each trip to ensure that all mechanical systems are in good working order
  • Carefully planning routes to ensure that deliveries are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintaining the company truck, which includes keeping it clean, reporting any issues, checking all fluids, monitoring tire pressure, and performing minor repairs as needed
  • Maintaining an electronic logbook detailing the hours traveled, rest periods, miles covered, as well as all fuel, and repair
  • Promptly reporting any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management
  • Notifying the dispatcher and customer of any delay that may affect scheduled delivery times

Responsible for building and/or repairing growing trays using hand tools and other machines.

  • This position is responsible for all of the following:
  • Shapes or cuts materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saws
  • Assembles and fastens materials to make trays, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue
  • Removes damaged or defective parts or sections of trays and repair or replace, using hand tools
  • Taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed

Quality Assurance Technician

The successful Quality Assurance Technician performs regular checks in and around the facility to assure product quality meets or exceeds customer satisfaction. Ensures all rules, regulations, guidelines, and processes for packing fresh food are being performed correctly.

This position is responsible for all of the following:

  • Conduct and document daily pre-inspections of facility
  • Conduct and document daily scale accuracy checks
  • Monitor and record metal detector checks every hour
  • Conducts product specifications checks, and notifies supervisors and/or managers of “out-of-spec” product
  • Conduct and document all QA and HACCP checks as directed
  • Ensure corrective actions are taken when necessary, and that CCPs are being monitored
  • Monitor employees to ensure compliance with GMPs
  • Issue employee Non-Compliance documents to employees who are in violation of any rules and/or regulations
  • Participate in Food Safety Audits,
  • Conduct routine environmental sampling as directed
  • Understand corrective actions

Responsible for working as part of the supporting team for the Wharf, Inside and Outside line operations & Tunnels and will play an important role in the day to day operations at the growing facility. Production Laborer will be trained to understand the process and procedures and be assigned to work and support one or more of these areas accordantly.

This position is responsible for all of the following:

  • Wharf- performs duties outside in the composting area of the mushroom growing facility at JM Farms.
  • Inside Line Operations- performs duties as required to work inside the mushroom growing facility at JM Farms.
  • Outside Line Operations- performs duties as required to work outdoors for the mushroom growing facility at JM Farms.
  • Tunnels – Performs Filling and Spawning Operations. Lifting spawn and supplement sacks for grinding and dumping, moving compost racks, laying and folding net, preparing the net to be pulled, as well as occasional forklift usage
  • Sweeping and shoveling compost
  • Washing down of equipment and conveyor belts
  • Performing basic equipment checks and maintenance as needed

Local Truck Driver

Responsible for transporting goods to and from different locations within a designated geographic area. Ensure that goods are well-secured during transit and delivered to customers in a timely manner. This position plays an important role in the day-to-day operations of moving product to and from each facility.

This position is responsible for all of the following:

  • Local Truck Driver Satellite – Load and unload mushrooms and supplies to and from satellite Farms. Drive a 26 foot box truck, and a day cab and pup trailer, use yard truck to move trailers around lot and in and out of shipping docks
  • Local Truck Driver Tray – Load and unload mushroom bed trays to and from satellites with a forklift. Drive a 53 foot curtain side trailer, pulls tarps on curtain side trailers
  • Local Truck Driver Compost – Load and unload mushrooms compost to and from destinations set by J-M Farms
  • Operate different lifting machinery such as pallet jacks, order pickers, side loaders, reach fork trucks, and counterbalance forklifts depending on the tasks they need to complete the job
  • Liaising with dispatch to communicate any traffic issues and delays
  • Assisting in the loading and unloading of goods, using hand trucks and electric lifts and this may require push/ pull with a pallet jack up to 1,200lbs
  • Drive tractor/trailer and both standard and automatic transmissions including 10 speed
  • Maintaining the company truck, which includes washing and cleaning it, reporting any issues, checking all fluids, monitoring tire pressure, and performing minor repairs as needed
  • Maintaining a log detailing the information needed per job. (they do not have to have logs, however we use “product tracking sheets” “tray tracking sheets”.

Line Operator

The Line Operator is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of the packing processing line of J-M Farms Product to meet company goals of safety, quality, delivery, and customer satisfaction. A line operator works as part of the supporting team for the Line Technician. The successful line operator will learn and understand tasks like assembling products into a container, weighing packages, inspecting wrap, checking date codes, stacking cartons, and putting the product onto a conveyor belt to feed the line.

  • Scale Operator - operating the scale in an accurate, efficient manner
  • Catch - catch wrapped product from the conveyor
  • Stacker - puts product on the pallets
  • Feeder – supplies product to the line to be process
  • Line Operators must be able to accept directions and follow precisely in order to guarantee customer’s satisfaction
  • Ability to follow directions and work independently and productively with limited supervision, or as a team
  • Maintains work area in a clean, safe and efficient manner
